Star Trek 4 Is Still On The Board With New Writer

Talking about a good response to Star Wars, Star Trek provided a sense of newness to people. Though the quality was a bit toned down and the characters weren’t as deep as those in Star Wars, it was fun nonetheless. But after its massive success in the series format, the films managed to dominate, and the recent update states that Star Trek 4 is definitely on, which will likely be the final chapter of this timeline.

Regarding a fresh face, Steve Yockey will be joining the party as the new screenwriter.

Also, Star Trek 4 will have the same cast as its 2009 reboot. The cast will include Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldaña, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, and John Cho.

Despite the positive update, Paramount is definitely having a tough time assembling the cast and other members of the project. Paramount failed at least three times to kickstart the project because of this exact issue. Matt Shakman made an exit to direct the Fantastic Four film, leading Paramount to rethink the slate.

Paramount is also working on a new “Star Trek” project led by writer Seth Grahame-Smith and director Toby Haynes, aiming to explore the franchise’s origins with a fresh cast.

Besides all these, a project by screenwriter Kalinda Vazquez, announced in 2021, is still in progress, but there are very few updates about that as well.
