‘Star Wars’ Actor To Star In ‘The Book Of Eli’ Prequel Series

We have some good news for those who are fond of the post-apocalyptic genre. A television series, which will be a prequel to the 2010 neo-Western post-apocalyptic film ‘The Book of Eli’, is in the works. John Boyega is set to star in the lead role in the upcoming series and will also executive produce the big-ticket project.

John Boyega, who is known for starring in the ‘Star Wars’ sequel film series, will be essaying the role of the titular protagonist Eli, which was played in the parent film ‘The Book of Eli’ by the Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington. Previously, John Boyega has also featured in the Viola Davis starrer historical action flick ‘The Woman King’ and the sci-fi comedy movie ‘They Cloned Tyrone’ also starring Jamie Foxx.

In the parent film ‘The Book of Eli’, Denzel Washington played the role of a hardened survivor Eli, who takes up the task of transporting a mysterious and important book across ravaged wasteland to save mankind. But on the way, he must deal with a bunch of violent people who want the same book. The film was set thirty years after a nuclear holocaust. Despite mixed feedback and a Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of 47%, it was a box-office hit. Considering an earnest performance by veteran actor Denzel Washington, John Boyega has pretty big shoes to fill.
