Disney and Lucasfilm are heavily busy with the promotion work of the upcoming Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The show’s teaser fused with the legendary ‘Duel of the fates’ score has received a spectacular response from the fanbase. On the other hand, Marvel Studios has dropped the new teaser of the forthcoming Ms Marvel series, based on the life of Kamala Khan. And now, some of the latest reports are creating a buzz on the internet about the expected release date of the much-anticipated Star Wars: Andor show. Here’s what we know so far!
The upcoming Andor series will serve as a prequel to the events of Rogue One (2016). Apart from showing his origin story, the show will focus on the life of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) as one of the pilots and intelligence officers of the Rebel Alliance. It means we can expect the series to take place about 5-6 years before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope.
Andor was one of the main characters in the Rogue One movie who helped in stealing the Death Star plans for the Rebels and sacrificed their lives during that high stakes mission. And despite knowing how he died, it will be interesting to see how the makers handle the character in the series. Plus, it will be a fantastic opportunity to explore Andor’s arc on a whole new level.
Several reports affirm that the Andor series may arrive in between the release windows of the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and The Mandalorian Season 3. One of the most prominent entertainment Twitter platforms, Bespin Bulletin, claims that it will hit the Disney+ streaming service in August this year. However, it didn’t unearth the show’s exact release date.
Michael Clayton and The Bourne Legacy fame, Tony Gilroy, is serving as the creator of the Star Wars: Andor Disney+ series. Apart from Diego Luna, the show’s cast treasures Stellan Skarsgard, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Reilly. Additionally, Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera has a cameo appearance in the show.
