Star Wars Universe Expands With The Mandalorian & Grogu

The initial series surrounding The Mandalorian was definitely one of the most promising outputs of the franchise, as the series saved the universe from a cold death in 2019, with Pedro Pascal showcasing his magic.

“Excited I am, to return to big screens!” Baby Yoda might say after his big return to the theaters, as Disney confirms that they are working on a new Star Wars movie.

Favreau’s “The Mandalorian” focuses on a helmet-wearing bounty hunter who manages to go on several journeys to save Grogu. Fans know him better as Baby Yoda.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau narrated. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

“The Mandalorian & Grogu” marks the first “Star Wars” film in progress since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” Despite announced projects by Patty Jenkins and Kevin Feige remaining unrealized, the franchise expanded with live-action TV shows like “The Book of Boba Fett” and “Ahsoka,” along with the upcoming “Skeleton Crew.”

Favreau, alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni, will produce the film. Filoni, also involved in “Ahsoka,” will provide guidance for the film while working on the show’s second season with Rosario Dawson.

Now, there is no specific date confirmed for this film adaptation as Disney’s calendar is always changing. But as of now, there are speculated dates on their slate: May 22, 2026, Dec. 18, 2026, or Dec. 17, 2027, but there isn’t any official release window.

Besides the release window, one more question raises eyebrows, and that is if the movie will be connected to the original series. But there is no update about that either as the fans count the days.
