Steve Martin Reveals ‘Only Murders in the Building Season 3’ Release Date

Steve Martin has revealed the release date of Season 3 of his critically acclaimed mystery comedy-drama series, Only Murders in the Building. The actor, along with Martin Short, was on his “You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today!” touring show when he made the announcement.

While warming up the audience at the Walt Disney Theatre in Orlando, Martin casually said, “Catch the new season August 8.”

Short quickly responded to Martin’s statement with this: “Our show is like Steve trying to pee — it streams for 33 minutes.”

Apart from getting a release window, Only Murders in the Building Season 3 has two new additions to its cast, Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep.

Season 1 revolved around the leading trio of Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), neighbors at Arconia, an Upper West Side building. Their shared interest in crime podcasts inspires them to team up to investigate the mysterious death of their fellow resident Tim Kono (Julian Cihi).

In the second season, the group did the same in the case of Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell), the building’s board president.

The plot of Season 3 is under wraps. It is still unknown if talents, such as Nathan Lane, Tina Fey, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, will return to the upcoming season. Lane has joked about the third season while confirming his absence in it to ET Canada, “It’s now called ‘Only Meryl in the Building.”

Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, Only Murders in the Building has these two gentlemen as executive producers as well, alongside Jess Rosenthal, Jamie Babbit, Short, and Gomez. Season 3 will premiere on August 8. Stay tuned for more updates.
