‘Stranger Things’ Actor Cast In Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator’ Sequel

Veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott (‘Alien’, ‘Blade Runner’) is all set to take the audiences back in time once again in a sequel to the highly acclaimed historical drama movie ‘Gladiator’, which is currently moving forward in full swing. ‘Gladiator 2’ will feature the Oscar-nominated Irish actor Paul Mescal (Aftersun) in the lead role and will be directed by the parent film’s helmer Ridley Scott himself.

Although the parent film’s lead actor Russell Crowe won’t feature in ‘Gladiator 2’, it was recently revealed that Oscar winner Denzel Washington and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (as the villain Emperor Geta) were roped in to star in the highly anticipated sequel.

And now, as per the latest casting update, ‘Gladiator 2’ has further rounded out its cast by adding Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen in interesting roles. In the original film, Connie Nielsen had essayed the important character of Lucilla – Maximus’ (Russel Crowe) love interest. So, she will reprise her previous role in the ‘Gladiator’ sequel. And ‘Stranger Things’ actor Joseph Quinn will play the role of Emperor Caracalla.

The yet-untitled ‘Gladiator’ sequel will be focused on Paul Mescal, who will play the role of Lucilla’s son Lucius and Commodus’s nephew. In the parent film, Lucius’s character was saved by Maximus and the incident left a lasting impact on Lucius.

The ‘Gladiator’ sequel’s story will be set many years after the events shown in the first film featuring Russel Crowe as the warrior slave Maximus. ‘Gladiator 2’ is set for a theatrical release on 22nd November 2024. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Ridley Scott’s ‘Gladiator 2’.
