Duffer Brothers who are known famously for being the creators of Netflix’s Stranger Things’, are looking to adapt Stephen King’s popular novel ‘The Talisman’ for Netflix. The novel will be adapted into a series and is in works with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, Paramount Television Studios and Duffer brothers who will all serve as the producers of the show.
The Talisman, originally published in 1984 was co-written by Stephen King and Peter Straub. The story of the novel follows a 12 year old boy named Jack Sawyer. Sawyer decides to go on a journey of his lifetime to save his dying mother from cancer. Sawyer in search of a relic called ‘The Talisman’ is filled with unimaginable threats and goes through parallel worlds. In his quest to find The Talisman, Sawyer encounters two different world, a world which he lives in and another one similar to his but deadly dangerous known as – The Territories.
Duffer Brothers, who have created Stranger Things have openly stated the fact several times that, the hit show has been adapted from several of King’s works and it will be very exciting to see another great adaptation from them in the form of The Talisman. The Talisman was one of the most favourite subjects of King who desparately wanted to make the novel into a show. There were also talks about a miniseries with TNT but the show never picked off. Now Netflix has taken in the opportunity and will be going ahead with it.
Talking about the primary crew, The Talisman will feature Curtis Gwinn as the writer and showrunner of the series. Gwinn is currently serving as the writer and executive producer of the Stranger Things.
Currently, The Duffer Brothers (Matt & Ross) are busy in the production of Stranger Things S4 which is scheduled to arrive later this year. Season 3 premiered in 2019 and the shooting was the fourth was halted several times due to COVID-19.
