MUBI is fast gaining a sizeable foothold in the Indian film streaming space. The global curated film streaming service, production company and film distributor offers an eclectic selection of films for cinema buffs – from classics to contemporary films, and from artsy, indie to popular films. MUBI has now announced the introduction of its one a kind curator model in the country, in partnership with critically acclaimed director and screenwriter, Vikramaditya Motwane.
MUBI will offer its subscribers a selection of seven diverse films that Vikramaditya Motwane has carefully handpicked for the platform. Film enthusiasts looking for distinct content will get the opportunity to experience these films through the lens of the director. This maiden curated selection will be available to viewers under the ‘Hand-picked by Vikramaditya Motwane’ spotlight. Film buffs can stream the films on MUBI starting today, that is 6th December, 2021.
The seven films that Vikramaditya Motwane has curated are Raj Kapoor’s ‘Awaara’, Christian Petzold directed German drama ‘Transit’, Sameh Zoabi’s ‘Tel Aviv On Fire’, Satyajit Ray’s ‘Mahapurush’, horror comedy ‘Baghead’, and Archana Phadke’s personal documentary, ‘About Love’, and Sergei Loznitsa’s Russian documentary, ‘State Funeral’.
Vikramaditya Motwane shared this about his selection of films, “These are movies that have stayed with me, have impressed me and made me laugh and cry and shudder. I’m honoured and delighted to present my hand-picked selection of films for MUBI India.”
Members will be able to stream this special bunch of films, starting December 6th. Those who don’t have a MUBI subscription can buy it for a monthly price of ₹499 or a yearly membership fee of ₹3588, which works out to ₹299 per month.
