Although Indian OTT viewers are sorely missing HBO’s widely acclaimed drama series ‘Succession’ amongst other HBO originals, the fourth and final season of the show is currently being aired on HBO and HBO Max on a weekly basis. A couple of days back, the extremely shocking third episode of ‘Succession’ made its premiere.
‘Succession’ Season-4 Episode-3 titled ‘Connor’s Wedding’ has achieved the distinction of nabbing another viewership high with a whopping number of 2.5 million viewers tuning in to the all-important episode, as per Nielsen and Warner Bros Discovery’s own data. The views include audiences across the HBO and HBO Max platforms. And the viewership record has coincided with Episode 3’s shocking plot twist (we won’t disclose it).
‘Succession’ S4 E3’s massive 2.5 million viewership is significantly higher by more than 22% compared to the previous episode (Episode-2’s two million) and is marginally higher than Episode 1’s viewership of 2.3 million. Moreover, the combined viewership for the opening episode of ‘Succession’ in three weeks comes out to be around 7 million as per WBD. Let’s see if these figures are further outdone by the upcoming episodes of the series.
Created by Jesse Armstrong, the underlying plot of HBO’s ‘Succession’ series revolves around the Roy family, who are owners of the media and entertainment giant RoyCo. When the company’s founder (Brian Cox) decides to step down owing to his deteriorating health, his four children gear up to compete for control of their father’s company.
Before 1st April 2023, ‘Succession’ was streaming in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform. However, after the streaming giant decided against renewing the much talked about licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery, Indian OTT viewers are now waiting with bated breath for another Indian OTT player to showcase HBO content in India. Until then, it’s a waiting game for them.
