Melissa Benoist who played Supergirl on Tuesday posted a heartfelt note on her Instagram sharing her experience as Supergirl and that she will always remember and cherish the moments that the show has given her all these years. Reportedly it was Melissa’s and the makers who thought of coming to a close and mainly because of two reasons. First being the ratings of the show were encouraging barring the crossover episodes and secondly being that Benoist is soon to become a mom as she is pregnant with her husband Chris Wood.
The makers have decided to make the last season grand and big and thus it will be a 20 episode season. The scripting of the episodes are going on and the cast and crew are all set to start up production for 6th season in Vancouver from the next month. The makers wanted to shoot for some scenes in advance with the rest of the characters so that when comfortable Benoist can come and shoot her scenes. The season 6 will premiere on The CW in 2021.
To be honest, this year has not been kind for the arrowverse shows and characters. First one to go was Arrow which was the pillar for the establishment of the TV DC universe. With Oliver Queen dying, all the responsibilities were upon The Flash and Supergirl both as characters and their respective shows. But now with Supergirl ending, one might think that will Kara Danvers be still there in Justice League? With Ruby Rose quitting Batwoman and Hartley Sawyer being fired from The Flash, CW has a lot to ponder on the future of Arrowverse and it’s shows. With Black Lightning and Legends of Tomorrow still there, all does not look finished for them.
But not all has been bad for them as they have got themselves a new show which will feature Superman in the lead. The show as you all know it is called ‘Superman and Lois’. This means that we’ll probably still have one Kryptonian in the Justice League. The show will follow the adventures of Superman and Lois Lane. To all the Kara Danvers fans, they might still he hope for all of you because there might be possible change that Supergirl will be appearing in some of the episodes of the her beloved cousin’s show. And you never know she might be there for the annual crossover event too!
