CW has confirmed the pilot of the Supernatural prequel series. This show is one of the longest-running fantasy drama instalments of all time. Fans got to enjoy a total of 15 seasons of the show, consisting of 327 episodes. The finale of the last season aired on November 19, 2020. The decision of ending the original show after a long span of more than 15 years broke the hearts of millions of fans. But now, they are worried about the series after CW’s announcement regarding its prequel series.
A majority of the show’s fanbase has taken this issue to various social media platforms. They are worried that this prequel series may destroy the legacy or change the established canon. On the other hand, Jensen Ackles has shown his excitement about the prequel entry. He recently stated in an interview:
“After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?’ When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”
It is not like greenlighting the production of Supernatural prequel was an easy task for CW. One of the biggest reasons behind that scenario was the rift between Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. The show’s executives were worried that the feud between the on-screen brothers might hamper the prequel’s hype. Thank god that they have both resolved their issues. Additionally, the former will serve as the narrator for the upcoming show. Plus, he is one of the executive producers of the prequel entry.
The forthcoming Supernatural prequel instalment will focus on the lives of Dean & Sam’s parents. It is titled ‘The Winchesters’. Robbie Thompson will helm the series. Makers have not yet confirmed the cast for the show. Stay tuned for more updates.
