Tamil superstar Surya is well known in the South Indian entertainment industry for his experimentation of roles and has entertained movie goers with a variety of different characters in different genre films. One such film is his 2016 time travelling hit “24” and it got released digitally on Amazon Prime Video recently.
But it was found that Amazon had removed the movie from it’s streaming service yesterday evening. There had been speculation regarding breach of contract, violation of rules or any other litigation behind this action by Amazon. But the real reasons for the content removal has been found.
The producers of the movie and the OTT streaming service had found out there were some audio issues while streaming the film on the platform. Amazon Prime Video subscribers were also unable to find the movie using the search engine on Prime Video and had registered complaints mentioning this issue. To address these problems, Amazon Prime pulled the movie to fix the audio and the coding for the search engine.
There hasn’t been any official announcement for any subsequent relaunch (which most likely won’t happen) but we can most likely expect “24” to be back in the Amazon library soon.
“24” produced by Suriya’s “2D Entertainment” has the actor playing three roles – Sethuraman a genius scientist, his twin brother Athreya and his son Manikandan.
The film also stars Nithya Menen and Samantha Ruth Prabhu as the female leads. It was written and directed by Vikram Kumar.
