Suriya’s Story In Navarasa Is All About This!

Tamil anthology film Navarasa on Netflix has to be the most exciting content coming up on Indian OTT. What makes Navarasa so enticing for Indian viewers is the stellar cast and crew of the anthology, combined with its singularly unique premise – nine short films based on the nine “rasas” or emotions that make up us humans. Nine different directors will recount a story on one emotion each. The nine stalwarts are Arvind Swami, Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Karthick Naren, Karthik Subbaraj, Priyadarshan, Rathindran Prasad, Sarjun and Vasanth Sai.

Even out of those nine short films, one short has particularly raised the anticipation of viewers sky high. It is “Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru”, the short film directed by acclaimed director Gautham Vasudev Menon, which features top Tamil star, Suriya. The Suriya – Gautham Menon combination is a winner, as has been proved by their previous collaborations. Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru is made even more exciting by the fact that the duo is getting back together after 12 long years and a major falling out between them.

Gautham Menon and Suriya’s film is based on the emotion of love. Prayaga Rose Martin plays the female lead in the film. Menon recently shared some very interesting details on the film with the media. He has expanded on the theme of ‘love’, exploring all the aspects that make up this multi-faceted human emotion.

There is love, sadness and happiness, everything blending together into an enchanting whole. Gautham Menon says that they have tried to tell a very different love story, basing it on the vibes between the two leads. The night goes on and on, and doesn’t seem to end the day they meet. Both Suriya and Prayaga Rose Martin have rendered refreshingly natural performances.

Suffice to say that these tiny details shared by director Gautham Menon have served to heighten our anticipation for “Guitar Kambi Mele Nindru” even more – if that were possible!

Navarasa has been presented by legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam and renowned writer-filmmaker Jayendra Panchapakesan. The anthology film releases on Netflix on 6th August, 2021.
