Suriya is a well-known actor and his films are greatly appreciated throughout the country. His latest film Etharkkum Thunindhavan released on Netflix on 7th April. Good for the makers, it garnered great views on Netflix. But surprisingly it is now even a bigger hit in Hindi than it is in the original language Tamil.
As you can see in the above image, Dasvi as expected is soaring high on number 1 while Bridgerton is enjoying the second position. But as you see Etharkkum Thunindhavan, the Hindi version is trending instead of the original Tamil.
Needless to say, a lot of native Hindi speakers would have watched the film in Tamil because of the original audio which is incomparable in terms of cinematic experience. But the reverse is never true, meaning, a person who understands Tamil would rarely consider watching it in Hindi. Despite this fact, Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan is trending higher in Hindi than it is in Tamil.
To make things clear, the film’s original audio is there in the 9th position. So it is indeed a lesson for other platforms that ignore the Hindi dubbing of South Indian films. The prime example being Prime Video where the availability of Radhe Shyam in Hindi is still obscure. It is in the benefit of OTT platforms itself that they ensure the availability of a film in 5 languages.
