Popular online food delivery and grocery platform Swiggy is well known for its ingenious marketing campaigns which revolves around one of the things which Indians are madly in love with: movies!
Previously, the food and grocery delivery company had collaborated with several filmmakers and OTT platforms to promote their films on their app. Several Indian films like ‘JuggJugg Jeeyo’, ‘Haseen Dillruba’, ‘Jagame Thandiram’, and more recently ‘Sita Ramam’ found their way to the Swiggy app as part of their marketing collab.
And the latest Indian title which joined the bandwagon is Amazon Prime Video’s recently released crime thriller series ‘Farzi’ starring Shahid Kapoor and directed by Raj & DK.
Under the ambit of the aforementioned Swiggy-Farzi brand collab, Swiggy Instamart customers were given a chance to get a hundred bucks off on their large grocery orders above a certain bill amount. All they had to do was use the ‘Farzi’ coupon while ordering groceries.
Alongside Zomato, Swiggy is one of the most popular online food ordering apps in India and gets thousands of online visitors every day. Just a few days before the release of Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Farzi’ series, Shahid Kapoor was himself seen promoting the Swiggy-Farzi campaign on the food delivery app’s social media platform.
In tune with the show’s theme and in another innovative and a one-of-its-kind step taken in this regard was the circulation an amusing and fake 2000 rupees note which made Swiggy’s existing customers and Farzi’s prospective viewers aware of the discount coupon that was made available for Instamart buyers and the show’s release date, etc.
After ‘Farzi’ started streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform, the series became an instant hit amongst OTT audiences and got a thumbs-up from many critics as well. So, the Swiggy-Farzi collab has turned out to be beneficial not just for the ‘Farzi’ series but also for Swiggy’s positive brand image and enhanced visibility. So, it seems to be a win-win situation for both the parties.
Set against the backdrop of counterfeit currency business, Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Farzi’ series features Shahid Kapoor as a small-time artist who uses his unique skills to design a con job using his grandfather’s printing press. But soon after, he is pursued by a relentless cop who is hellbent on putting an end to the high stakes con game.
