Having most recently teamed up for an episode on Saturday Night Live, Emmy / Grammy award-winning artists Keke Palmer and SZA are back with another collaboration. A longer, buddy comedy film project!
With producer Isaa Rae on board, the two are all set to star in an untitled buddy comedy movie from TriStar Pictures. The movie will officially mark SZA’s acting debut. Palmer rose to fame through her breakout role in ‘Akeelah and the Bee’. She has since gone on to star in more than 25 films and 30 TV shows including Jordan Peele’s highly acclaimed sci-fi thriller ‘Nope’, ‘Alice’, ‘Hustlers’, ‘Scream Queens’ and more.
She earned a Primetime Emmy Award in 2021 for her self-created series ‘Turnt Up With the Taylors’. Moreover, she recently made history as the first Black woman to win an Emmy for the ‘Outstanding Host For A Game Show’ category for her work hosting NBC’s reboot of ‘Password’.
SZA on the other hand is an Oscar nominee and four-time Grammy winner whose debut album ‘Ctrl’ became a multiple chart-buster. The album went on to receive 5 Grammy nominations. Her 2018 collaboration with Kenrick Lamar on the song ‘All The Stars’ for MCU’s ‘Black Panther’ received nominations at the Grammys, Golden Globes, and the Oscars.
While details about the film are being kept under wraps for now, it sure seems to be a fun project with a very promising cast!
