On the aoccasion of international women’s day today Taapsee Pannu has unveiled the new poster of her upcoming sports drama ‘Shabaash Mithu’. Directed by Srijit Mukherji (‘Begum Jaan’, ‘Ray’), ‘Shabaash Mithu’ is yet to get a release date.
‘Shabaash Mithu’ is a biographical film based on the life of current Test and ODI captain of the India women’s national cricket team Mithali Raj. The film traces her journey in the world of women’s cricket, portraying the struggles and success along with the moments of glory.
Sharing the poster on social media Taapsee wrote, “She continues to inspire millions like me. To break a few stereotypes to lay down a new path ahead for many to follow. This Women’s Day I am cheering for the front runners in the fight to #BreakTheBias

With a story from Priya Aven, ‘Shabaash Mithu’ is produced by Viacom 18 Studios in association with Colosceum Media Productions. The music for the film is given by Amit Trivedi.
While we have all heard the great tales of men in blue, ‘Shabaash Mithu’ is all about the unheard story of women in blue. Other than Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami is one other woman cricketer whose biopic ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ starring Anushka Sharma is under production.
It’s a pleasure to see how these sports women are slowly getting their due recognition. In a field dominated mostly by men, these women have not just made their way through but also motivated multiple others to pursue their passion. Earlier films like ‘Dangal’, ‘Mary Kom’, ‘Saina’ and now ‘Shabaash Mithu’ and ‘Chakda ‘Xpress’ are a great way forward to showcase the inspiring journey of these wonderful sportswomen.
