Tamannaah Bhatia led supernatural thriller drama ‘Odela 2’ released in theatres last month with a lot of anticipations but unfortunately the film failed to meet the set expectations.
Sequel to the 2022 crime thriller drama ‘Odela Railway Station’, ‘Odela 2’ centres on the fictional village of the same name. The film is about how Odela Mallanna Swamy protects a secluded village rich in cultural heritage and deep-rooted traditions from looming evil forces.
The critics were not very happy with ‘Odela 2’ and found the narrative incoherent, script unstructured, characters underdeveloped and most importantly overemphasis on violence. The film lacked the emotional depth and even Tamannaah’s performance and visually engaging sequences could not salvage this sequel.
The Ashok Teja directorial is now headed for its OTT premiere after having completed the four week theatrical schedule and whether it manages to impress the digital viewers will be interesting to see.
‘Odela 2’ is coming to Prime Video on 8th May, 2025 and will face clashes with films like Ajith Kumar’s ’Good Bad Ugly’ and Siddhu Jonnalgadda’s ‘Jack’ also premiering on the same day but on Netflix. There’s also shows like Netflix’s ‘The Royals’ and Prime Video’s ‘Gram Chikitsalay’ coming this weekend.
With such intense competition, there are high chances ‘Odela 2’ might go unnoticed given its less charming appeal. But then one can never predict what might catch the audience’s eyes on OTT.
Sampath Nandi has written the story, screenplay and dialogues for ‘Odela 2’ alongside providing direction supervision. The film is directed by Ashok Teja and stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Hebah Patel, Vasishta N. Simha, Yuva, Naga Mahesh, Vamsi, Gagan Vihari, Surender Reddy, Bhupal and Pooja Reddy among others. ‘Odela 2’ will start streaming on Prime Video from 8th May, 2025 in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
