Tamil star Karthi’s film ‘Japan’ released in theatres on 10th November, 2023, as a Diwali release. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, and was an average performer at the box office. Most audiences panned the predictable storyline of the film while appreciating the fun antics pulled off by Karthi’s character in Japan.

Streaming giant Netflix has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights for Japan, which it had revealed in its big fat Tamil slate of films back in January as part of its Sankranthi announcements.
Now, Netflix has also revealed the OTT release date for Japan. The film premieres on Netflix worldwide on 11th December, 2023. Japan will only release on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, and not in Hindi. Hindi-speaking subscribers if Netflix will have to enjoy watching Japan with English or Hindi subtitles.
Japan is a heist action comedy film, which features Karthi as a jewel thief and a master of disguise. The film stars Anu Emmanuel as the female lead, along with Sunil, Vijay Milton and Jithan Ramesh in pivotal roles. Japan is produced by DreamWarrior Pictures. It is written and directed by Raju Murugan.
