The film centres on discrimination and exploitation of people on the basis of their caste for political gains. ‘Maamannan’ stars Vadivelu in a never-seen-before role, along with Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles.

Maamannan was part of the 18 strong slate of Tamil films that Netflix had announced as part of its Sankranthi reveal in January 2023. However, ‘Maamannan’ will release on Netflix only in the four South languages of Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, and not in Hindi.
