The TFPC or the Tamil Film Producers Council has halted the announcement and commencement of new projects owing to the huge backlogs of previous movies.
There are a lot of movies stuck in the midway that are not completed for a long time and the Council has decided it will be better to clear these projects off before starting out on new ones. From the August of 16, commencement of new projects will be temporarily stopped and from the 1st day of November, film related activities, including shooting, will be stopped. In lieu of the rising cost of production and artists’ remuneration this has been an important decision from the Council.
It has been reported that many of the stars have taken advance or multiple films and have not even turned up at the time of the shooting. Dhanush has been called out for doing this multiple times and the Council has urged producers to approach them before signing him on new projects.
The meeting had some new resolutions, including an 8 weeks gap between the theatrical release and the OTT premiere of movies.
This might help a lot of the films that have been stuck up midway through production and probably this will improve the overall scenario in the Tamil film industry providing a non-hostile environment for producers, technicians and actors.
