Team Formed To Investigate Molestation Cases In Bengali Film Industry!

After the shocking revelations of the Hema Committee report, now a similar Committee has been formed to investigate cases of sexual exploitation in the Bengali film industry.

Ritabhari Chakroborty, a well known actor from the industry has confirmed that the CM has assigned a team for this. Earlier, the actress had shared a long note on her social media, demanding an enquiry on the cases of exploitation in the Bengali film industry. Very recently, filmmaker Arindam Sil was suspended by Directors Association Of Eastern India over charges of molestation by multiple co-workers.

Ritabhari said that she herself has faced sexually offensive behaviour from some of her co-workers in the beginning of her career. This is getting the deserved hype all thanks to the Hema Committee report but it is nothing new in the Bengali film industry as well. There have been multiple such heinous cases over the years and people in position of power have usually slipped out of the justice system.

It is ironic that on one hand the chief minister is creating an investigative team for the sexual abuse cases in the film industry and on the other hand students are protesting against the CM and her party for denying justice to the R.G. Kar victim. But it is good that all the industries in India are growing conscious over the cases of exploitation and sexual abuse and the only thing we expect is an unbiased interrogation and healthy judgment.
