Bombay and the Indian underworld are synonymous with each other – a reality that was more than obvious in the perilous eighties and nineties. But in the nineties, the Bombay Police Force decided that enough was enough; and matters between the police and the underworld came to a head. ALTBalaji‘s latest action thriller ‘MumBhai’ chronicles that exact time in the history of the city that is today called Mumbai. The first full-fledged teaser of MumBhai, released by ALTBalaji on social media today, is an exhilarating and explosive recap of the faceoff between the police and Mumbai’s underworld.
The teaser focuses on the one-man-army in the Mumbai police force – Bhaskar Shetty, played by Angad Bedi. The man is on a fierce mission – to clean up the streets of Mumbai. And he will let nothing stand in his way. Angad Bedi looks great as Bhaskar Shetty, spouting whistle-worthy dialogues, sporting a sassy swag and looking invincible while doing so.
The antagonist to Angad Bedi’s Bhaskar Shetty is badass underworld don, Rama Shetty, played by Sikandar Kher. MumBhai will centre on the cat and mouse chase between Rama Shetty’s goons and Bhaskar Shetty’s police, gripping encounters and bloody wars. But it will also touch on the childhood friendship between Rama and Bhaskar – yes, the two were friends in childhood. Growing up, they took diverse paths to success – one achieving fame, the other, notoriety.
The teaser brims with elements that made up nineties Bombay – sex, drugs, crime and shootouts. The teaser gives no glimpse of the other crucial actors of MumBhai – Sikander Kher, Sandeepa Dhar, Priyank Sharma, and Sunny Hinduja. The series comes from Balaji Telefilms, the producers of Shootout At Lokhandwala and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, two defining underworld movies of Bollywood.
MumBhai features Angad Bedi, Sikander Kher, Sunny Hinduja, Sandeepa Dhar, Priyank Sharma, Vishwas Kini, Sameer Dharmadhikari and Madhurima Roy in crucial roles. It is directed by Akshay Choubey and executive produced by Samar Khan.
MumBhai premieres on ALTBalaji on 6th November. Have a glimpse of the teaser of MumBhai here –
