Brendan Hunt‘s comedy-drama series, Ted Lasso, arrived in August 2020, back when COVID-19 was in its prime. The show faced some difficulties in gaining enough hype at the time of its release. But soon, it gained momentum and became of the best shows of 2020. The grand success of Season 1 inspired the makers to deliver a sophomore instalment next year. And the second season performed even better than the first one. The series bagged the last year’s Critics Choice Award, Hollywood Critics Association TV Award, Primetime Emmy Award, and various other accolades for Best Comedy Show. Now, fans are desperately waiting for its third season. But will the Ted Lasso series end after Season 3? Let’s find out.
Brendan Hunt serves as one of the show’s creators. And he recently gave very disheartening news to all the Ted Lasso fans. In a recent interview with Nub News, the maker disclosed that the series will end after Season 3. On asked about giving important Season 3 details, this is what he said:
“That is a tough question and I really can’t say for sure that this will be the last series and I know there’s been lots of speculation. You do feel it has a life span but it still feels as if it is growing. Originally, it was always intended to be a three series show. There are lots of stories to unravel and settle one way or another in Series Three but when it does finally end all I can say is that we will take great care in landing the plane properly and lovingly.”
There is no denying that Ted Lasso is the best comedy project Apple TV+ has right now. It is not like the streaming service will suffer from a heavy lack of comedy shows after the conclusion of Ted Lasso. Comedy shows like Dickinson, Mythic Quest, Trying and many more have performed well and gained critical acclaim. But they are not as prominent as Ted Lasso. It means the departure of Jason Sudeikis starrer will be a huge loss to Apple TV+.
The filming of Ted Lasso Season 3 commenced in London in March this year. So, we can expect it to hit the Apple TV+ streaming service in late 2022. Stay tuned for more updates.
