‘Tekka’ Posters Changed Owing To Protests & Controversy!

Srijit Mukherjee’s upcoming movie ‘Tekka’ is facing huge controversies due to its promotions and very recently, the makers had to change the posters for the movie after receiving backlash from audiences.

Huge hoardings of the movie had been put up all over Kolkata and these hoardings soon invited huge criticism from the end of netizens. The protests against the rape of the junior doctor in Kolkata are still high on fire and in the midst of all this, the promotions of the movie did not deem ethical to people. One hoarding with a photo of Swastika Mukherjee playing a distressed mother said, “Who will return my daughter?” Netizens think that using the current social environment for the movie’s gain is not a very moral thing to do. There was actually a second hoarding, with the protagonist Dev’s photo that replies to the previous question by saying “Time”. Time will return her daughter, and this promotion does not seem very out of place when one gets to know that this is actually a kidnap thriller and Dev is playing a kidnapper.

Now the hoardings have been slightly changed and the name of the little girl that gets kidnapped in the movie is featured there. The hoarding with Swastika now has the saying, “Who will return my daughter Avantika?”. However, it is not known whether this will be of much help and reduce the anger of the people who are already frustrated by the socio-political issues in the state.
