Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda has surprised one and all with its terrific showing at the box office. The Telugu action drama, infused with supernatural elements, has done extremely well at the theatres. Akhanda released in theatres on 2nd December, 2021. Since then, the film has attracted the attention of audiences, who have flocked to the theatres to watch the powerful actor Nandamuri Balakrishna in action. Add to it the fact that the Telugu star, lovingly called NBK, has enacted a double role in the film, and it is like cherry on the cake for his fans.
Akhanda is still doing very well in the theatres, even in its fifth week of theatrical release. However, scores of viewers have kept away from theatres for fear of Covid-19. They are waiting to watch Akhanda on OTT, in the safety of their homes. The most important question in their minds is “where and when will Akhanda stream on OTT?”
The answer to that question is in the fact that the post-theatrical streaming rights for Akhanda have been bagged by streaming giant, Disney Plus Hotstar. So Akhanda will arrive on streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar soon. To answer the second question, the makers of Akhanda have kept an exclusive theatrical window of six weeks for the film. By that calculation, Akhanda will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar by the end of next week, which is January 14. Next week is Sankranthi week, which makes Akhanda the ideal film to release as a Sankranthi offering for OTT audiences.
Akhanda is a compelling drama, produced by Miryala Ravinder Reddy’s Dwaraka Creations, and written and directed by Boyapati Srinu. The film features Nandamuri Balakrishna in a double role, along with an ensemble cast of Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth, Nithin Mehta, Poorna, Subbaraju, Avinash, Sravan, Prabhakar, Deshna Javaji and Viji Chandrasekhar, among others. Noted composer S Thaman has composed the music of Akhanda.
