Any Netflix Original release trending on Netflix India Top 10 is not a new story. But when some films after their theatrical releases, drop on Netflix India without any promotion or hullabaloo and they make it to the trends list, it’s some feat. The latest entry to this club is Telugu film ‘Godse‘.
This Telugu language action thriller starring Satyadev Kancharana and Aishwarya Lekshmi is written and directed by Gopiganesh Pattabhi and produced by C. Kalyan under the banner of CK Screens. Godse released theatrically on 17th June to mixed critical and lukewarm audience reception. The film’s streaming rights were acquired by Netflix India and began streaming on the platform on 17th July.
In hardly 5 days the film is already trending on Netflix India Top 10. It’s positioned at #6 right next to Stranger Things and Resident Evil, both Netflix Originals. Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh starrer ‘Vaashi’ is the only non Netflix Indian original movie trending on the OTT platform’s top 10 list today besides Godse. This is a considerable achievement given the film dropped just like that on the platform without any promotion unlike Ante Sundaraniki whose Netflix release carries some promotions. However, besides views it seems like the film isn’t recieved well by the streaming audience either.
Godse, is an unofficial remake of the 2018 South Korean hit ‘The Negotiation’ starring the most iconic couple Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin. The film follows Godse who holds When several high-profile officials on hostage. Soon enough, a police investigator is pulled in to lead a negotiation. The whereabouts and intentions of Godse and how he gets caught forms the crux of the plot. The film is now streaming on Netflix India.
