Lakshman Karya’s comic entertainer Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam was released in theatres on 23rd August 2024. Rao Ramesh, Ankith Koyya, and Ramya Pasupuleti play the primary lead roles in the film, while Indraja, Harsha Vardhan, Annapurnama, Ajay, and numerous more actors appear in the supporting parts. While MN Balreddy handled the cinematography and Kalyan Nayak composed the soundtrack, the movie is produced by Bujji Rayudu Pentyala and Mohan Karya.
The film centers on the story of Subramanyam, who in 1998 was chosen by the DSP to become a teacher. But when a court stay keeps him from getting the job, all of his hopes are gone. Disappointed, Subramanyam starts relying on his wife Kalarani (Indraja) for money. He has been humiliated several times, but he won’t seek a new job.
Both reviewers and viewers responded favorably to the movie. The first week of the film’s release saw a great box office run. However, because of the popularity of Nani’s Saripodha Sanivaaram and the severe rains that affected two states, its performance drastically decreased.
Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam made ₹2.76 crores in its first week of sales. The movie took in ₹1.20 crores from India and ₹0.90 crores from the Rest of the World (ROW) in its second week of release. With this, the global gross amounts to ₹4.86 crores.
With an underwhelming outing in theatres, it is finally coming to OTT. Aha OTT platform will be the home of Maruthi Nagar Subramanyam and will have a digital premiere on the platform. The release date of the same will be announced soon and fans will have to wait for the digital release a little more after the official announcement.
