Aditya KV, author of the critically acclaimed best-seller book ‘Daitya Diaries’ (2018) is all set to make his OTT directorial debut with the Telugu series titled ‘Unheard’, which will start streaming on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform from 17th September 2021 onwards.
‘Unheard’, which has also been written by Aditya KV, is a historical period drama whose events take place between the years 1905 to 1950. Aditya KV, who has a keen interest in the subjects of the Indian freedom movement and history, had previously also helmed a documentary film based on Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
The documentary filmmaker and author in Aditya KV combined with his painstaking research on the Indian freedom movement will certainly be reflected in the upcoming series ‘Unheard’ and is bound to give the narrative a distinctive voice.
The series’ title and earlier reports ostensibly suggest that it will be based on the struggle of the ‘Unheard’ common man during and a few years after the freedom struggle revolving around the important city of Hyderabad during that era.
It is common knowledge that Hyderabad was merged with the rest of the nation three years after India gained Independence. Consequently, the series might follow the dual battle of Hyderabad residents – one with the Britishers and the other one with the Nizams.
The filming of ‘Unheard’ was concluded around a year back in November 2020. The series features Priyadarshi, Chandini Chowdary, Srinivas Avasarala, Ajay, Baladitya, and Anand Chakrapani in important roles. The runtime of the series is reportedly around two hours and is narrated through six conversations.
‘Unheard’ series will also purportedly depict the devastating Spanish Flu that happened in the year 1918. You might be aware that even the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had also become infected by the virus. The pandemic had significantly affected the freedom movement in India which further fuelled fury against British rule. So, this aspect might also play an important part in the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Unheard’.
