Indian Twitter users have been creating quite a bit of buzz over the past few hours on Marvel’s upcoming space fantasy web series, ‘Loki’. This Marvel web series will be the third overall TV series to be in continuity with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is expected to release the day after tomorrow, on Wednesday, 9th June 2021, in four languages – (original) English, (and dubbed) Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Except… it will not be released in the Indian regional languages (Hindi, Tamil and Telugu), just yet. Disney+ Hotstar unexpectedly pulled the release of the Telugu, Tamil and Hindi dubbed versions for this upcoming series – and that’s what the buzz has been all about.
So far, there has been neither any official reason as to why they pulled the dubbed versions nor any new updated release date for the Indian dubbed versions yet. But we have been getting a few reports suggesting that the current Covid-19 restrictions in India have caused a delay in dubbing. This coupled by the multiple lockdowns within various key areas of the country meant that the dubbed versions would (sadly) miss the set release date of 9th of June.
The Disney+ Hotstar support team on Twitter has also mentioned that the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi dubbed version of the 6-part web series will be available at a later date, so we don’t have to worry about the dubbed version not making it to the OTT platform. Hopefully, the number of Covid-19 cases will reduce and we will get the Indian version of the Superhero TV series soon.
The English version of ‘Loki’ will be released on Wednesday, 9th June 2021, as mentioned previously. The remaining five episodes of this series will also be released on Wednesdays, every week. ‘Loki’ will be the first Marvel TV series to feature an alternate version of a prominent character from within the MCU.
