Amazon Prime Video’s action crime thriller series ‘Reacher’ was an instant hit among OTT audiences after Season-1 came out last year. The impact of the show was such that ‘Reacher’ was renewed for a second season just a few days after Season-1 premiered on Prime Video.
As per the latest update, ‘Reacher Season-2’ will also feature ‘Terminator 2’ main villain Robert Patrick in an important role opposite the show’s titular protagonist played by Alan Ritchson. The 64-year-old character actor will be essaying the role of Shane Langston, a street-smart ex-NYPD cop with a questionable record who is now the security head for a private defence contractor. So, in short, it’s just the kind of character who is bound to be at loggerheads with Jack Reacher. This role was previously supposed to be played by Rory Cochrane.
The eight-part opening season of Prime Video’s ‘Reacher’ was based on Lee Child’s debut book on Jack Reacher – Killing Floor. It features Alan Ritchson as a former military police officer Jack Reacher who is convicted for a crime he did not commit. With assistance from local cops, he must uncover the dangerous conspiracy involving some powerful people in Margrave, Georgia. ‘Reacher Season-1’ boasts of a critics’ score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
On the other hand, ‘Reacher Season-2’ is based on the eleventh book of the Jack Reacher series titled ‘Bad Luck and Trouble’. The underlying plot revolves around how members of Jack Reacher’s old military team start getting killed one by one. Now, it’s up to Reacher to use his very particular set of skills to bring the culprit to justice.
After Robert Patrick’s casting in ‘Reacher S2’, it will be interesting to see the veteran actor’s on-screen chemistry with the show’s lead actor Alan Ritchson. Besides ‘Terminator 2’, Robert Patrick had previously lent his acting skills for ‘Spy Kids’, ‘Safe House’, ‘The X-Files’, and more recently James Gunn’s ‘Peacemaker’ series starring John Cena.
