One of the more promising, original screenwriters to emerge out of Bollywood and the brain behind Rang De Basanti, Rensil D’Silva dons several hats. While the man had turned a director with the promising yet commercially unsuccessful Kurbaan, he has been active with his screen-writing stint and had also tried his hand at a novel titled Kohinoor Express recently. Binged.com has some interesting news about it.
Kohinoor Express is a novel that talks of the famous diamond (Kohinoor)’s epic journey to various parts of the globe (by various means of transport including train and sea), including Punjab, Bombay and ultimately London, where it went onto to adorn the queen’s crown. The interesting premise is loaded with a lot of twists and turns that have kept readers reasonably engaged.
Now, Binged.com hears that the novel has interested a producer to be made into a series soon. Rensil has been in talks with a producer about adapting the novel for the digital medium in the form of a mini-series.
“I have researched the subject for various years now. You can expect an official announcement soon,”
he had reportedly said a source we know.
Are you excited about this? So, are we. While we are yet to know if Rensil himself would helm the series, what can we say for sure is that he will be an integral part of the team that would draft the screenplay for the same. For those who didn’t know, Rensil had also co-written the recent Karthi-Jothika starrer Thambi, helmed by Drishyam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph. Keep watching this space for more updates about it.
