It’s been quite a year for Chiyaan Vikram with the roaring success of ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2‘ and the much hyped ‘Dhruva Natchathiram‘ trailer. And now, his ‘Thangalaan’ movie gets a new update.
‘Thangalaan‘ will now be released on January 26, 2024. The movie was previously slated to release on the 24th of November this year. But now, as his own movie ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ is coming on that date, the movie is postponed for next year. The teaser for the movie will be released on the 1st of November.
Thangalaan is directed by Pa. Ranjith, the filmmaker known for films like ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ and ‘Kaala’. His films are laden with symbols of oppression, caste hierarchies and rebellions against them. This is the first time Ranjith is collaborating with Chiyaan Vikram. There will be other actors like Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Harikrishnan Anbudurai in important roles. G. Dhananjeyan, the producer of the movie, has stated that the visuals of ‘Thangalaan’ match Hollywood standards and that the movie will set new bars for quality of cinematography. Kishor Kumar has handled the cinematography and GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music for the film.
The movie is described as an action adventure drama that will tell the story of the oppressed workers of the Kolar Gold Fields. This movie will be based on true events, unlike K.G.F, which is a fictional account of the same field. Thangalaaan will have the story of the indigenous people fighting for their land against the British imperialist forces.
