The regional streaming platform Hoichoi which is the leading streamer in West Bengal as well as in Bangladesh had announced their plan of having a production house a few days back.
Today, the mahurat shot of the first production from Hoichoi Studios, the theatrical arm, was taken.
The first film from Hoichoi Studios will be ‘Swapankumarer Badami Hyenar Kobole’. Swapankunar will be an adventure story with much thrill and suspense. It will be starring Abir Chatterjee in the leading role and renowned filmmaker Debaloy Bhattacharya will be helming the project. Paran Bandyopadhyay will play Swpankumar, the fictional author whose accounts are to be told in the film. The team is excited because the character is famous with all the crazy stories, and it is the first action based detective from Bengal.
Hoichoi has impressed the audience of West Bengal and beyond for these years. SVF has been the biggest production house for Bengali films so far, but with the popularity and success rate of Hoichoi on OTT, it is easy to guess that Hoichoi Studios will soon be the toughest competitor of SVF.
Hoichoi has been the go-to OTT platform for cringe erotic thrillers as well as exceptionally well written and well crafted stories. These two sides of the platform have gained huge popularity for Hoichoi and it will help in marketing the feature films that the theatrical arm of the company will produce. Picking up a character that is famous and adapting into an action adventure thriller is a great move, as the genre is hugely popular in West Bengal.
