The Acolyte Will Be A Blend Of ‘Andor’ & ‘The Mandalorian’

Showrunner and director Leslye Headland has discussed the plot of her upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte, scheduled to arrive on Disney+ on June 4.

Headland recently had a lengthy interview with Collider, in which she revealed some intriguing plot details about The Acolyte. When asked about whether the forthcoming Star Wars show is more ‘Andor’ or ‘The Mandalorian’, Headland replied that it was “in between”. Check out her full statement below!

“I think it’s very much in between, meaning it’s a serialized storyline, it’s not episodic. There’s an overarching story that’s told over the course of eight episodes. It is a mystery thriller, meaning each episode you have to watch in order to get more information, and start to get invested. I found with Andor, it really built into something that was exciting, and had this incredible payoff at the end. We were definitely trying to do something similar narratively.”

Apart from Andor, The Acolyte will also connect its dots with other Star Wars projects, such as The Mandalorian, Clone Wars, and more. Plus, Headland has teased that her forthcoming project will have plenty of references from the Original Trilogy. However, we should not expect to see references related to the Sequel Trilogy, as it deals with the post-Empire time.

The Acolyte’s events will take place 50 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), depicting the final days of the High Republic era. The series will offer a thrilling mystery revolving around the Jedis to the viewers. In addition, it will focus on those individuals who can feel the Force inside them but do not know how to use it properly. It stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rebecca Henderson, Carrie-Anne Moss, and more. Stay tuned for more updates.
