The Archies were announced last year on Netflix. Needless to remind, the film started getting trolled as soon as it was available to troll. It stars a bunch of star kids in their debut and it is a reason big enough for trollers.
The film is nearing its release date and we may get a solid update in the Netflix TUDUM festival. Thus, the makers launched a new poster from the film to create a buzz.
As soon as the poster was out, so did the trolling. People lashed out against the movie for being too un-Indian or promoting nepotism.
Now, you may think that Netflix was stuck in a bad position. But the opposite is true.
Even after making entertaining and extraordinary films like Monica O My Darling and Qala, Netflix couldn’t gain a lot of traction.
They are great films, but they lacked a connection with the audience.
The Archies on the other hand is super buzzy right from the beginning. As the old saying goes, no publicity is bad publicity, Netflix will benefit from exactly that.
Too many people are engaging with the film online, even if it is just for trolling. So The Archies look like a great prospect. It will most certainly be a hit but let’s wait for what the TUDUM festival brings.
