The time when dystopian science fiction thrillers were all the rage is not all that behind us. Undoubtedly, ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise is one of the torchbearers of the genre. Not only were the 2010s ruled by the franchise, the popular series also made a comeback recently with ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’.
Based on Suzanne Collins’s best-selling 2020 novel of the same name, it is the fifth installment of the ‘Hunger Games’ series, and serves as a prequel to the original universe. The star studded ensemble cast includes Viola Davis, Jason Schwartzman, Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, as well as Hunter Schafer.
After being available to rent on Prime Video for months following its theatrical release, the dystopian action film is all set to drop exclusively on the streaming platform on August 8 in English with Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubbed versions.
The well-received feature follows a young and iron-willed Coriolanus Snow as he rises to the position of a tyrannical despot in Panem, nearly sixty-four years before Katniss Everdeen’s voluntary tribute service to save her sister, Primrose’s life.
The film’s initial release was accompanied by mixed reviews. While the actors were praised for their performances, the editing and cinematography were critiqued.
Well, now you have the option to stream the film and find out for yourself if it lives up to the hype of the original franchise!
