Joe Barton, the creator of the acclaimed Netflix show ‘Giri/Haji’ is all set to premiere his new show on Netflix. Joe Barton’s next is titled ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’, and the show will premiere on Netflix on October 28.
Quite unlike his earlier ‘Giri/Haji’, which was a crime thriller, ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’ is a young adult fantasy drama. The series is an adaptation of Sally Green’s wildly popular YA novels, the ‘Half Bad’ trilogy. ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’ will consist of eight one-hour-long episodes.
‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’ will take the viewer into a fantasy world of good and bad witches, and their warring ways. The cast of ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’ consists of Jay Lycurgo (Titans), Nadia Parkes (Starstruck) and Emilien Vekemans (Transferts). Also starring are Isobel Jesper Jones (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes), Paul Ready (Motherland), David Gyasi (Carnival Row), Kerry Fox (Conversations with Friends), Liz White (Unforgotten), Karen Connell (Vikings) and Fehinti Balogun (I May Destroy You).
The official synopsis of ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’ reads, “It’s a story about the indomitable will to survive and defy the odds. 16-year-old Nathan (Lycurgo) is the illegitimate son of the world’s most dangerous witch. Fearing he will follow in his father’s footsteps, Nathan is constantly monitored. But as the boundaries between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ fray, Nathan – along with mischievous Annalise and charismatic Gabriel – will soon discover who he truly is.”
Andy Serkis (The Jungle Book) is executive producing the series, alongside Joe Barton, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant, Phil Robertson and Colm McCarthy. Joe Barton is also the lead writer and showrunner.
All episodes of ‘The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself’ premiere on Netflix worldwide on October 28.
