The Batman: Colin Farrell Teases An HBO Max Spinoff For Penguin

Colin Farrell is playing The Gentleman of Crime, Penguin, in Matt Reeves’ upcoming DC movie, The Batman. The helmer has already hinted about his interest in involving himself with various Batman spinoff projects in future. Plus, Warner Bros has planned two sequels for the upcoming Vengeance entry. Now, the actor has spiced things up after teasing a possible HBO Max series based on the life of Oswald Cobblepot.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Farrell revealed that he had many conversations with Reeves on the sets of The Batman about his character. They both believe that Penguin has so many hours worth to tell a story about himself.

“Like this film was, I think all of the actors you know, Zoe, Paul, John, and Jeffrey, Rob, myself it was such a collaborative experience. When films are this size, it’s not always as creatively collaborative as Matt [Reeves] allowed this film to be. Matt had very particular ideas of what the world was gonna look like, and the inner life of each character. But he wanted us all to bring our own sense of history, and our own ideas. Those ideas are going to take more than one film to be fleshed out when it comes to Penguin. So far, the experience of maybe bringing Os into a six or eight hour journey is the same, it’s really collaborative,” Farrell said.

There is no denying that the make-up team has done a splendid job on Farrell’s look as Penguin. The actor is looking unrecognisable. Additionally, the fans deserve to watch more of Cobblepot on their screens. We last watched the live-action version of the villain in Batman Returns (1992) with Tim Burton at the helm. Danny DeVito did an excellent job as Penguin. However, his portrayal of the character was darkly comic and less realistic. On the other hand, we are going to get a more realistic version of Penguin in The Batman. The upcoming DC movie can function as an appropriate base for the further exploration of the character in future. Also, we will witness Cobblepot’s early crime days in this one. He doesn’t like to be hailed as Penguin yet. But his spinoff series can perfectly display the rise of one of the most brilliant-minded personas in Batman rogue’s gallery.

You all should remember that the studio has not yet confirmed an HBO Max spinoff based on Penguin. The Batman will hit the theatres on March 4. It stars Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and many more.
