‘The Batman’ Sequel Greenlit With Robert Pattinson & Matt Reeves

In a fantastic piece of news for all cinephiles, the globally admired DC superhero movie ‘The Batman’ is officially getting a sequel. The news about ‘The Batman 2’ has been announced by Warner Bros. at the ongoing CinemaCon. The event, which is a gathering of movie theatre owners from across the globe, is being held in Las Vegas from 25th to 28th April 2022.

Like the first film, Matt Reeves will direct ‘The Batman 2’ as well and Robert Pattinson will reprise the titular role as the vigilante caped crusader. Considering the film’s astounding critical and commercial success, the news about ‘The Batman’ sequel does not come as a surprise. However, no release date for the sequel was announced during the event.

The Batman, which was released in theatres on 4th March this year, eventually grossed over a whopping $759 million at the box office worldwide, despite the pandemic.

Besides being a box-office superhit, the film was admired for major filmmaking parameters like direction, performances, cinematography, action sequences, etc. Currently, ‘The Batman’ holds an impressive critics score of 85% on the popular reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, it boasts a respectable 8.1/10 user rating on IMDb.

Helmed by Matt Reeves and set during the second year of Batman’s crime-fighting endeavors, ‘The Batman’ stars Robert Pattinson as the billionaire masked vigilante and protector of Gotham City.

When the city’s privileged class begins to become the victims of a ruthless serial killer Riddler (Paul Dano), Batman must decipher the clues left behind by the killer and unearth the corruption in Gotham City. The film also features Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Penguin.
