This morning, Disney Plus Hotstar launched the trailer for the Ajay Devgn-produced film “The Big Bull“. The much-awaited film is the Bollywood version of stock market king Harshad Mehta’s story, recently documented by Hansal Mehta’s web show Scam 1992. The Big Bull premieres on Disney Plus Hotstar VIP on April 8, 2021.
By now, almost everyone must have gotten acquainted with the jaw-dropping story of the rise and fall of Harshad Mehta, the man known as the Big Bull of the Indian stock market. However, Disney Plus Hotstar’s upcoming film has the potential to stand apart for just one reason – the riveting performance of Abhishek Bachchan as the wily stock broker. The 3-minute trailer of The Big Bull shows Abhishek Bachchan like you’ve never seen him before – correction – like you saw him once before – in Guru, that seminal Mani Ratnam film where he portrayed another wily businessman, Dhirubhai Ambani. The Big Bull will definitely remind you of the Abhishek Bachchan you saw and admired in Guru.
The Big Bull also stars Sohum Shah as the stockbroker’s, named Hemant Shah in the filmy version, as his brother. Shah is almost unrecognisable in his 90s getup. Ileana D’cruz plays journalist Sucheta Dalal, who first broke the scam in the 90s, and wrote a book about it.
The Big Bull also stars Nikita Dutta, Ram Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Mahesh Manjrekar and Sameer Soni, among others. It is directed by Kookie Gulati, produced by Ajay Devgn, Anand Pandit, co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Vikrant Sharma, with dialogues written by Ritesh Shah.
