‘The Boys: Diabolical’ Animated Spinoff Coming Soon At Prime Video

Fans of ‘The Boys‘, here’s some super news for you! Coming up at Prime Video is an animated spinoff of the superhero series that has proved to be an unequivocal hit for the streamer. Titled ‘The Boys: Diabolical’, it will be an animated anthology series of eight episodes. Diabolical, as the name suggests, will be irreverent, shocking and wicked….more so than ‘The Boys’.

‘The Boys: Diabolical’ will reveal unseen stories within The Boys universe, stories that are “unexpected, funny, shocking, gory, moist, and emotional”. Each of the eight episodes will have different writers, including Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer & Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland & Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler. For the unversed, Garth Ennis is also the creator of ‘The Boys’ comics, on which the original series is based.

‘The Boys’ star Karl Urban announced ‘Diabolical’ via a special recorded message at the CCXP Worlds 2021, as part of Prime Video’s virtual panels. Eric Kripke, showrunner of ‘The Boys’, and executive producer of ‘Diabolical’ announced, “Surprise! We’re almost finished with eight episodes of our animated series, Diabolical. We gathered together some incredible creators and we gave them one rule … just kidding, there are no rules!”

“They blew the doors off it, delivering eight completely unexpected, funny, shocking, gory, moist, emotional episodes. You think The Boys is nuts? Wait till you see this,” he added, amping up the excitement for the new series.

‘The Boys: Diabolical’ is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios, with Titmouse, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film and Point Grey Pictures. The series will premiere on Prime Video sometime in 2022.

Prime Video has another ‘The Boys’ spinoff in the works, a superhero college series that the platform had announced in September 2021.
