Apple TV Plus has revealed the first look and release date for its buzzy new series ‘The Buccaneers’. The British series premieres on Apple TV Plus on 8th November, 2023.
Apple TV’s ‘The Buccaneers’ is a British period drama that is based on the 1938 novel of the same name, written by American novelist Edith Wharton. The novel remained unfinished at the time of Wharton’s death in 1937, and was published posthumously in 1938. Screenwriter Katherine Jakeways has written the series, which is directed by Susanne White.
The series centres on a group of wealthy and ambitious American girls, who arrive in London in the 1870s, seeking to marry titled and landed Englishmen. The story also centres on the cultural clashes that take place as a result, due to the two differing approaches to tradition. The novel was earlier adapted into a mini series for the BBC in 1995.
Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag, Imogen Waterhouse and Mia Threapleton star as the titular Buccaneers in the series. Christina Hendricks, Josh Dylan, Barney Fishwick, Guy Remmers, Matthew Broome, Simone Kirby, among others, form the rest of the cast.
