The cast of “Alice in Borderland” Season 2 is overjoyed as they call it a wrap on the filming of the much awaited new season of the sci-fi action thriller. Netflix dropped an official video that features the primary cast of the Hit Japanese series sharing the good news, i.e.a potential December release date along with few plot teases.
“Alice in Borderland” season 1 released on Netflix late December 2020 and received positive reviews from critics. The show popped back in discussions post the release of South Korean Phenomenon ” Squid Game ” because of their thematic and survival-thriller-execution similarities. However, “Alice in Borderland ” was only streamed in 18 million households compared to Squid Game’s 142 million in its first month of release. Nevertheless the show was still a success and the second season is set to release in the month of December 2022. We are also certain to see the return of all the surviving cast members.
Based on the manga of the same name, Alice in Borderland follows a game obsessed man Ryohei Arisu as he gets trapped in an abandoned Tokyo where he and other players, must compete in a series of deadly games to survive. Alice in Borderland Season 1 only covered the first half of the manga, so it’s yet to be seen if season 2 will cover the rest of the manga, or rather expand further on the premise and world-building of the series.
The recently dropped video by Netflix on Twitter shows the cast talking about their experiences while filming the second season. The cast promises fans a “large-scale” and “bigger than ever” experience with “bigger set-pieces” in comparison to season one. With both Alice in Borderland and Squid Game potentially returning, we can’t wait for the resurgence of all those fan-theories and speculations. Why can’t December come already?!
