The Color Purple: Warner Bros Drops New Trailer

A new trailer for the feature adaptation of the prominent stage musical The Color Purple is out now. Hailed as “a bold new take on the beloved classic”, the film stars talents like Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, Corey Hawkins, H. E. R, Phylicia Pearl Mpasi, and Halle Bailey.

The upcoming period drama is the second feature adaptation of Alice Walker’s 1982 novel. Steven Spielberg helmed the first adaptation (1985). He and Quincy Jones have produced the film as well. The duo of Oprah Winfrey and Scott Sanders have also served as co-producers.

The Color Purple’s first trailer came out nearly four months ago. It is directed by Blitz Bazawule, more commonly known as Blitz the Ambassador. He is best known for helming movies like The Burial of Kojo (2018) and Black Is King (2020).

Domingo will also be seen in Rustin, portraying the well-known civil rights activist Bayard Rustin. Helmed by George C. Wolfe, the film will come out on Netflix on November 3.
