Tony DeRosa-Grund, The Conjuring’s producer, and Cinedigm will collaborate to cultivate a brand new paranormal horror movie franchise called ‘The Haunted’. No plot details have been revealed yet by the makers. However, the producers have confirmed that these films will be based on “verifiable actual events”.
DeRosa-Grund is best known for producing The Conjuring (2013), the first instalment in the fan-favourite horror franchise, along with Rob Cowan and DCU’s co-head, Peter Safran. The film received acclaim from critics and viewers and collected over $319 million globally. Its huge success resulted in the birth of The Conjuring Universe, consisting of the 2013 film sequels, the Annabelle series, The Nun (2018), and The Curse of La Llorona (2019).
The Haunted franchise will commence with a family’s spine-chilling and eerie supernatural encounters, which share a strong connection with legends and actual historical events surrounding a young woman who was also pregnant. Her father accused her of being a witch. This scenario puts the entire family in grave danger.
De-Rosa Grund has finished writing the script of the first ‘The Haunted’ entry. The producer and Cinedigm are seeking a perfect director to helm the upcoming project. Grund will produce the project under his banner, Nverse Pictures.
This is what DeRosa-Grund recently said about the forthcoming horror franchise:
“Having created, produced, and written the story for the original The Conjuring, I can say, with absolute clarity and certainty, that The Haunted is exponentially better, truer, and more terrifying,”
More details will surface about ‘The Haunted’ movie franchise soon. Stay tuned. You can stream ‘The Conjuring’ on Netflix.
