Late filmmaker William Friedkin is globally renowned as the director of films like ‘The French Connection’ and ‘The Exorcist’, amongst others. Sadly, the veteran filmmaker died last month at the age of 87. His last film as a director – ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’, which is yet to be released worldwide, has now set its release date in the US.
After its recent world premiere at the Venice International Film festival, William Friedkin’s ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’ will now be released in the US region on 6th October on the OTT platform Paramount+ with Showtime followed by a linear television release on Showtime on 8th October.
‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’ belongs to the legal drama genre and is based on a 1950s play of the same name. The film’s story revolves around the case of a first officer of the Navy (Jake Lacy), who takes control of the U.S.S Caine vessel during a violent storm after the US naval Captain (Kiefer Sutherland) begins to show signs of mental instability. Later, the officer faces court martial for mutiny and his defense lawyer (Jason Clarke) tries to analyze the events which happened aboard the vessel.
Considering the fact that ‘The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial’ is the last film by a filmmaker of William Friedkin’s unmatched caliber, this is one film which is being looked forward to by ardent cinephiles across the globe. The film has received an impressive critics’ score of 86% so far on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes.
As per the latest update, the courtroom drama Caine Mutiny is slated to premiere on Paramount+ in international markets also where the streaming service is available, like the UK, Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, France, Italy, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and South Korea regions.
