Despite earning positive reviews worldwide, The Fall Guy failed to turn the box office upside down. What was estimated to emerge as a summer blockbuster, turned into a box office disaster. The latest Ryan Gosling starrer was expected to open with $30-35 million in its opening weekend. However, it underperformed in its opening weekend, earning only $27.7 million. Over two weeks have passed and the action comedy has yet to surpass its budget of $140 million. As of May 19, the film has managed to earn only $127.7 million. This scenario has sparked up rumours of the film’s early streaming release, including in India.
Universal has announced that The Fall Guy’s digital release will take place on May 21 (Tuesday), which will also include an additional cut of 20 minutes, promising even more high-octane action and goosebumping romance for the film. This out-of-the-box digital release announcement from Universal indicates that the production house may release David Leitch’s action-comedy via streaming sooner than expected.
Given that Universal handled The Fall Guy’s distribution, the film will eventually come out on Peacock. If we consider everything, we should get the film on Peacock in late June or early July. Indian viewers can watch Peacock’s content on JioCinema.
