Another day goes and another ‘The Family Man 2’ article is published. Most articles talk about how fans are furious that there is no trailer. Yet other articles take a nuanced look at the cast and tell you more in detail about them or just the reaction on Twitter and social media in general.
While all of this may be true and one cannot deny that if pre-planned this entire campaign has been one of the most successful ones in terms of getting people to talk about a particular character or show. OTT platforms have always tried to discover more unique ways of marketing their titles with Ak vs Ak trying to eliminate the fine line between cinema and real-life by creating Twitter feuds and also by making diss tracks and having house swaps.
While the OTT platforms have been fishing for different techniques to create a buzz regarding their titles whether they are character promo videos or sizzle reels to tying up with influencers, The Family Man 2 has to be the most audacious attempt till now.
The Family Man had received rave reviews and by the time the second season was announced people were already waiting to devour everything there was about the second instalment of the show. The makers have kept almost everything under wraps and you can hardly find anything substantial when it comes to the storyline of the series. The only question is ‘Trailer Kahan hai?’ and ‘Shrikant Kaha hai?’. While others would want to give out some information to the viewers ‘The Family Man 2’ has even resorted to not releasing the trailer and social media has created a frenzy around it. It has been trending for so long that twitter must have even forgotten about other issues till now.
Even though some may hate Amazon Prime for this it has succeeded in making almost everyone talk about it and this only proves that there is no right way to market. You just have to navigate the terrain smartly. I mean who would have ever thought that a show without a trailer would be so much in demand.
