‘The Family Man’ Director To Make A Film On Shah Bano Case

Filmmaker Suparn S. Varma, who directed multiple episodes of Raj & DK’s widely acclaimed spy series ‘The Family Man S2’, has announced another interesting project which will be backed by him. Some of you might not be aware of the fact that Suparn S. Varma was one of the producers of the highly rated courtroom drama ‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’. The film featured Manoj Bajpayee in the role of a diligent and honest sessions court lawyer, who takes up the case of the sexual assault of a minor girl by an influential and popular godman.

‘Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai’ premiered directly on the Zee5 OTT platform and after its massive streaming success, Suparn S. Varma has now announced a trilogy of courtroom dramas which will purportedly be based on some of the cases which changed the fabric of Indian Society.

The first film in the courtroom drama trilogy will focus on the life of Shah Bano, who was a 62-year-old Muslim woman, who fought for her alimony and sought maintenance from her divorced husband, a well-known Indore-based lawyer, in the year 1978. The case became a landmark for the rights of Muslim women in India. And the subject truly deserves to be adapted into a film.

As of now, it is known that the courtroom drama based on the Shah Bano case will be directed by a National Award-winning filmmaker. Although the name of the director is currently not confirmed. The film’s script is reportedly complete, but the cast members are yet to be finalized. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on that.
